About

Cookin Wid Kunchi

I once had aspirations of being a chef, known the world over. Today I am quite content with sharing my passion with the world through the power of the internet. Not for the love or the need of money, but more so to express my creative ideas to help others expand their knowledge. In turn I intend to grow as I constantly research and discover new ideas to bring to my audience. I grew up in a humble countryside town in the parish of Manchester, Jamaica. At an early age, I became the assistant cook at home. Being the oldest it was more my duty than my choice. Fast forward to the present day, I reside in Daytona Beach, Florida. Over the past decade, I have been learning and practicing the techniques housed in American BBQ. The stubborn Jamaican in me, refuses to let my heritage and love for my island cuisine depart from me. Therefore, I have been coming up with ways to to combine both to create the jamaicanbarbq.com. I have struggled with the idea for quite some time, of whether to open a restaurant or food truck. The short answer is significant for many reasons, but remains NO. I prefer sharing my passions for the fireside with friends and family in my backyard, or theirs. In this case, the only requirements are good times, laughter and love. I have a few absolutes; NO STEAK SAUCE ON MY STEAKS, AND NO BBQ SAUCE ON MY PULLED PORK. Provided these rules are observed, you will get another invitation. I promise. My youtube channel along with my Instagram began as exclusively Jamaican. As I grew in the online space, I have discovered the importance of representing both cuisines as a package. And honestly, they are better together. As you may know, the cuisines are more similar than they are different. I hope that you will follow me along on this journey to discover and create new and exciting flavors. If not to present to the world, then at least to the ones we love and spend time with at the family BBQ.
